Everything you need to know about backflow testing, repair, and compliance in San Diego County.

Most standard backflow tests take 20–45 minutes on-site depending on the assembly type and accessibility. If a repair is needed, we carry common parts and can often complete the repair in the same visit.
A failed test means the assembly is not protecting the water supply as required. We diagnose the failure on-site and can perform most repairs immediately. If the assembly needs full replacement, we'll provide a quote and schedule the work. We file a report with your water agency regardless of pass or fail.
California law requires annual testing of all backflow prevention assemblies. Your water purveyor — such as the City of San Diego, Padre Dam Municipal Water District, Otay Water District, Helix Water District, or Sweetwater Authority — will send you a notice when your test is due. Failure to test can result in notices, fines, or service interruption.
We do. After every test, we file the results directly with your water authority within 24 hours and email you a copy of the report for your records. You don't have to do anything — compliance is handled end to end.
Not necessarily. For most exterior assemblies — irrigation PVBs, meter-mounted devices — we only need access to the assembly itself. If your assembly is inside or requires interior access, we'll let you know when scheduling.
Each type provides a different level of protection based on the hazard level and flow conditions at your property. PVBs (Pressure Vacuum Breakers) protect against backsiphonage and are most common on irrigation systems. DC (Double Check Valve) assemblies protect against both backsiphonage and backpressure in low-hazard situations — where a pollutant could affect water quality but does not pose a direct health risk. RP (Reduced Pressure Zone) assemblies provide the highest level of protection and are required in high-hazard situations — where a contaminant could pose a serious health risk. Your water agency determines which type your property requires based on the degree of hazard.

Yes. All testing and repair work is performed by a CA/NV AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT), Cert. No. 20975 — an ANSI/ISO 17024 accredited certification that already meets the anticipated California SWRCB cross-connection control requirements.
